Hello, friends! We are in for an epic year of creativity and I’m so stoked to begin the school year as your new STEAM Coordinator! I have been teaching for 13 years, first as a Visual Arts Educator, then I added 10 years in Kindergarten to the ranks.

I grew up living in all kinds of communities, all over the country, as my mom served in the US Army for 15 years. I lived in 10 different states before I was a grown up!! My grandparents live in Cleveland, Ohio, where I stayed while my mom served in Desert Storm. I have always returned back to Cleveland, so I naturally developed a love for the Cavaliers & the Browns at a young age and moved back to Cleveland to get my BA from Cleveland State University. Looking for a new adventure, I moved to the East Bay after I graduated and started working in Alameda's West End schools right away as a Multicultural Arts Educator and substitute. I also worked for the LEAPS after school program as a 3rd grade teacher, while I taught during the day. I even worked as Ms. Jones-Szabo's assistant in the Media Center! A few years ago, I earned my masters in Fine Arts/Printmaking from the Academy of Art University here in the Bay Area. I have a print studio on Park Street that I make art in when I’m not at Ruby Bridges or traveling all over the world with my husband.

I’m deeply proud to work at Ruby Bridges and I wouldn’t ever dream of teaching anywhere else! RBE is my home away from home and I know we are going to have a fabulous school year as we roll out our new STEAM program!
