Alameda Learning Enrichment Academic Pride and Self-Esteem (LEAPS) is an after-school program whose primary focus is academic improvement for at-risk youth. This program is to assist chidlren with homework while improving reading and math skils making it easier for them to succeed in school. This program also focuses on enrichment and social skill building.
The LEAPS is funded from the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program is authorized under Title IV, Part B, of the Education and Secondary Education Act. The annual grant is $392,250 for five years.
- A minimum of 330 students will be accepted into the program
- Students who are identified as at-risk due to academics or social/emotional needs are accepted
- Teachers, site principal and staff members typically recommend students
- AFTER SCHOOL HOURS: The LEAPS program takes place between the hours of 3:00-6:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 1:20-4:30pm on Wednesdays. Scholarships are available.
